La preparación de elevación debe ser lo primero que se aplique al papel, y debe dejarse secar. Una vez seco, se continuará con lapintura de forma habitual.
Se pueden hacer correcciones elevando el color con un pincel mojado o con la esponja.
Las capas se elevarán mejor dentro de las cinco o seis horas después de la primera aplicación, sin embargo, siempre se quitarán con más facilidad que si se hubiera utilizado únicamente papel.
La preparación de elevación no hace que la acuarela sea más soluble, por lo que no hay peligro de que las capas múltiples se conviertan en algo barroso.
